The Devils will be facing the Sabres Wednesday night at The Prudential Center after winning two big games on the road against the Rangers and the red hot Penguins. They will be looking for just their second win at home this season against Ryan Miller and the Sabres, who have gotten off to a great start with a 6-1-1 record. Ryan Miller leads the league in save percentage with .940 and is second in the league (behind Bryzgalov) in GAA, with a mere 1.69.
This will be the Devils first game after hearing they will be without leading defenseman Paul Martin [...]

Devils vs. Sabres Preview
Past Four Game Summary
Sorry, I have not been able to have an article on each game after it ends, so let’s go over the past four Devils games in summary. The last time I posted the Devils had won in thrilling fashion down in Tampa. After that game, they went 3-1 in the next four against talented to very talented teams.
They traveled further south after their win against Tampa to play the Panthers and played a mediocre game overall, however, a David Clarkson goal in the third put them ahead and regardless of how they won, a win is a win at the [...]
Last Second Gasp
The Devils were staring a 0-3 start to the season dead in the face Thursday night. Tampa Bay took the lead in the third on a snap shot from Todd Fedoruk, a rather soft goal for Martin Brodeur to let up, going down far too early on the attempted save. After that the Devils saw very few chances at knotting things up. Things certainly looked bleak until the waning seconds of the third, while New Jersey had the extra man; Travis Zajac scored the equalizer with less than a second remaining on the clock.
After an overtime that saw [...]

The Devils lost their opening game of the 2009 season. They last lost an opening game two years ago to the Lightning. The Devils have had shaky starts to seasons before and have regained composure fairly quickly. I feel like this loss was more of the Devils still in a transition phase of new things as opposed to the Flyers just beating us. The Flyers are, by all means, a solid team, and one of the best in the entire league; however, the Flyer goals last night were practically uncontested and soft.
I thought coming into the year, Martin Brodeur would [...]
Projected Lines
The Devils roster has been dwindled down to 24. With Brendan Shanahan leaving the team, it opens up some discussion as to who will be put into his spot on his line with Rob Niedermayer and David Clarkson. At the Devils practice today Ilkka Pikkarainen took his place, however, Pikkarainen will begin the season on the IR as he is just getting over a case of the stomach flu.
Prjoected Lines:
1) Zach Parise – Travis Zajac – Jamie Langenbrunner
2) Brian Rolston – Dainius Zubrus – Niclas Bergfors
3) Matt Halischuk – Rob Niedermayer – David Clarkson
4) Jay Pandolfo – Rod Pelley – [...]
The Devils and future Hall of Famer Brendan Shanahan agreed to part ways today. It is believed that it was a mutual decision from top to bottom within the organization. Shanahan stated “When I signed this past summer, Lou Lamoriello, Jacques Lemaire, and I agreed that if we were unable to find a suitable fit in which I would be able to compete and contribute at the level I expect from myself, then I would simply step aside.”
Shanahan also went on to add that it was a decision that bore no ill advised feelings between Lou Lamoriello or Coach [...]
