Preview - NJ Devils @ PIT Penguins (3/25)

Friday night the New Jersey Devils (34-35-4) head into Pittsburgh to meet the Penguins (43-23-8). The Devils are coming into tonights match up after going 1-3 in their last four games, including a loss to the last place Senators on St. Patricks Day. The Penguins have won four out of their last five games.

New Jersey has reached what is truly a do or die time in their season with just nine games remaining. To reach the projected playoff cutoff of 90 points the team can not lose another game, all while getting help from the rest of the league to keep the teams ahead of them standing still in the standings. As a desperate New Jersey teams takes the ice tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins will be able to clinch their playoff birth with a win coupled with a Carolina loss.

Starting in net tonight will be Martin Brodeur, making his 13th consecutive start. Brodeur is 8-5-0 since he last backed up Johan Hedberg. Brodeur will be facing a somewhat crippled offense from the Penguins with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin still on the injured reserve. Even though the Penguins are without their star players up front they have been able to win games so the Devils will need to be on their A game.

The puck drops tonight at 7:00pm (EST).
