As the Devils enter the weekend to play their final two games of the season it is an interesting feeling. The Devils will not be making the playoffs for the first time since 1996. It is certainly something that Devil fans are not used to. Before the Devils hit a big roadblock that would eliminate them from the playoffs, the team and the fans thought that this Saturday’s matchup with the New York Rangers would be the biggest game of the year. The Devils would have a chance to take a playoff spot from the Rangers. In reality, it is only half true. The Devils have the chance to knock the Rangers out of the playoffs if they can win, but it won’t be them stealing New York’s playoff spot. The Carolina Hurricanes would get the spot if they could win.
Zach Parise has been shut down for the remainder of the season. No games, practices, or morning skates. It doesn’t seem as if he had a set back but they are taking a precaution since the final games don’t mean much.
After saying Brodeur and Hedberg would split the final games, it looks like Marty will get both starts. Finally, there hasn’t been much news on what’s really bothering Colin White, Anton Volchenkov, and Dainius Zubrus. We most likely will not see them until next season.
