The Devils are putting the “pedal to the metal” early in the second half of the season. After not making the playoffs last year, they are not leaving anything to chance. First the Devils got a 3-2 win over the hated Rangers, then the Devils imposed their will and staged an impressive comeback against the Canadiens.
Moving on into their schedule, the Devils took care of business versus some of the better Eastern Conference teams. They destroyed the Flyers taking a 6-0 lead into the third period in Philly on Saturday, and then took care of the red-hot Penguins 5-2. The Penguins had won of 9 of their last 10 before facing the Devils.
The Devils are climbing up in the playoff standings and now have 63 points, 3 points behind the Flyers. In addition, the Devils are 8 points behind the Rangers with a head to head meeting looming on Tuesday. Three out of the next four games after the Rangers game will be home games.
