Ilya Kovalchuk is picking up right where he left off this past June. On Monday, he posted three goals as SKA St. Petersburg rallied from a two-goal deficit against CSKA Moscow in a 4-2 victory.
With his squad trailing 2-0, Kovalchuk tallied the team’s first score with 13:20 left in the second. He tied the contest 1:18 into the third period before putting in an insurance marker with 6:59 to go in the game, making it a 4-2 score.

Ilya Bryzgalov of the Philadelphia Flyers was in goal for the Moscow while Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and assist for CSKA.
Former New Jersey Devils forwards Patrick Davis and Vladimir Zharkov played for Moscow. Davis had 17 shifts on the ice and Zharkov took 16. Also on the ice for CSKA were former Nashville Predators forward Alexander Radulov and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovsky.
