The AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, the Albany Devils, were in action over the weekend and went 1-1.  They fell to the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, on Friday by a score of 3-2 but won a road game on Saturday as they took down the Worcester Sharks, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, by a 4-0 mark.

The Devils held a 2-1 lead on the Crunch at the end of one period, but two goals by Syracuse in the second period sent them to victory.  Winger Mike Hoeffel scored the game’s first goal just a minute into the contest.  Jacob Josefson added an assist on the play.  Tied 1-1 midway through the first, Mattias Tedenby pumped in a goal with a few minutes left in the stanza, as Tim Sestito recorded a helper.  Check out the highlights below.

In Saturday’s contest, an all-around team effort was on display.  Adam Henrique scored on a delayed penalty to open the scoring at 8:53 of the first period.  Still a tight 2-0 game late in the second period, Josefson scored his first goal of the year to make it a three-goal match.  Early in the third period, Josefson iced the game with a shorthanded marker to stretch the advantage to four.  Sestito had the assist.  Adam Larsson recorded a pair of assists in the victory.  Goaltender Keith Kinkaid made all 30 stops as he earned the shutout, the fourth of his career.

The Devils are in action again on Wednesday, October 24 when they host the Connecticut Whale, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers at 7 p.m.
