Since Hurricane Sandy is going to keep much of the Northeast inside their homes over the next few days, let’s catch up on some New Jersey Devils news. The Albany Devils, the AHL affiliate of the Devils, dropped a 3-0 decision to the Hershey Bears, the AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, on Saturday night in Hershey.
Hershey goaltender Braden Holtby stopped all 35 shots to post the shutout. The Bears got goals from Zach Hamill, former Phoenix Coyotes forward Jeff Taffe and Tomas Kundratek.
Albany goaltender Keith Kinkaid made 19 stops. Albany is now 2-4 on the season while Hershey stands at 2-3-1.
The Devils are back in action on Friday against the New York Rangers affiliate, the Connecticut Whale, at 7 p.m. at the Times Union Center.
Part of me would like to see the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton vs. Albany game at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on November 25th, but part of me will also be sad that it most likely means there will be no NHL season. Oh, well.
Later on tonight…a recap of today’s SKA game against Spartak. Spoiler alert…Ilya Kovalchuk…still good at hockey.
