Not even 24-hours after Kinkaid made his NHL debut, the rookie was returned back to the Albany Devils. Replacing Kinkaid is 25-year-old Jeff Frazee, another goalie looking for his NHL debut.
Kinkaid and Frazee have been splitting time in Albany all season. Frazee does have better numbers than Kinkaid but in fewer games.
Frazee is 7-9-4, with a 2.33 goals against average, and a .920 save percentage in 21 games with Albany. This is compared to Kinkaid’s 17-11-5, 2.65 goals against average, and .905 save percentage in 33 games with Albany.
Starting in goal for the Devils on Thursday is Hedberg, who is 0-5-1 with a .838 save percentage in the last six games.
Devils fans are started to become restless as the Devils continue to search for a way to end this slump.
In other news, Cam Janssen has been sent back down to Albany with Kinkaid after playing 5:37 in Tuesday’s loss.
The Devils also claimed 34-year-old Tom Kostopoulos off of waivers today. The 6-foot 205-pound right winger was claimed from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kostopoulos had three goals and four assists in 17 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins before being claimed by the Devils.
Kostopoulos has scored 60 goals, 96 assists, and 705 penalty minutes in 615 career NHL games with many different teams including the Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
