Final Thoughts Live Blog: New Jersey Devils at Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning 5 New Jersey Devils 4

Here are my final thoughts in the same format as the live blog was throughout the night.

To catch up on tonight’s game, check out the first period here, the second period here, the third period here, overtime here, and the shootout here.

-Wow what a game

-It seemed like it was going to be a bore-fest in the first period, but that was not the case.

-Steven Stamkos is the real deal and so is Tampa Bay’s offense.

-The Devils really cannot win after three periods of play.

-The Devils blew a two goal lead twice tonight.

-Shake it off and beat Florida tomorrow night.

My Three Stars of the Game

First Star- Steven Stamkos: Not only did he score his league best 24th and 25th goals tonight, he could have scored 26, 27, and 28. Stamkos is a top notch player. He even added an assist on the game-tying goal as he paced his team to quite a comeback victory tonight.

Second Star- Andy Greene: Greene put in a great effort tonight offensively and defensively. He had a goal and an assist early in the game, and put in a good effort on a 4 on 3 penalty kill in overtime.

Third Star- Matt D’Agostini: D’Agostini was great tonight and the score sheet reflects this. He registered his first two points as a New Jersey Devil.

Honorable Mention- Martin Brodeur: The Lightning had quality scoring chances the entire game and Brodeur stood on his head, even though he surrendered four goals and two shootout goals. This could have easily been a crooked number game. Thankfully it wasn’t 8-4 or 9-4.
