New Jersey Devils Shutout By Rangers In Season Finale

New York, N.Y. - The New Jersey Devils ended their disappointing season with a another disappointment, a shutout.

The Devils got dominated by the New York Rangers this afternoon and showed no interest in playing the game, especially Martin Brodeur. Brodeur decided to give the game to Johan Hedberg because he did not feel it necessary to play.

The Rangers got two first period goals from Derek Stepan and Ryan Callahan. Rick Nash would add two more in the next two periods.

The Callahan goal came on a turnover by Marek Zidlicky, giving up a breakaway and a goal.

The game was meaningless for the Devils, who did not have the opportunity to knock them out of the playoffs. For the Rangers, the win boosted them into sixth place ahead of the Islanders and the Ottawa Senators. The Sens have two games remaining and trail by two points.

For the Devils, it is time to hit the golf course and go on vacation.
Lou Lamoriello will have a busy offseason to fill the spots that will be left by free agents including Patrik Elias, David Clarkson, Adam Henrique and many others. Most will be re-signed, but others will test the market.

It has been a lackluster season for the Devils, but is all said and done with. At the end of the day, the Devils are still the best team in the fans eyes.
