NHL Olympics Deal Complete! Players Can Play In 2014 Olympics

The NHL and the NHLPA have announced an agreement with the International Ice Hockey Federation and the International Olympic Committee. The agreement permits NHL players to play for their country in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

The Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament is expected to be played from February 12-24, 2014. No game schedule has yet to be posted, but 12 teams are expected to take part in the games.

Making up those 12 teams are expected to be about 120 players from the NHL alone.

The NHL will take a brief hiatus starting February 9th and ending on the 26th. The break allows any player to participate, without the NHL teams falling apart in that period of time.

Also joining the players are going to be several NHL referees. Seven referees and six Linesman from the NHL will be heading to Sochi for the games.

The groups for the games are as followed:

Group A:
Russia, Solenia, Slovakia, United States.

Group B:
