The departure of two of the top three goal scorers, David Clarkson and Ilya Kovalchuk, brings some uncertainty as to whom will score the most goals in a Devils uniform in the 2013-14 season.
Clarkson led the team in goals in 2013 with 15, Kovalchuk had 11, but very well could have lead the team as he missed 11 games due to a shoulder injury.
Lou Lamoriello has done his best to acquire some players with the ability to put the puck in the back of the net so far this summer. He added Ryane Clowe and Michael Ryder on free agent frenzy day, then later added Jaromir Jagr to the team later on.
No matter what happens, the Devils will have a goal scoring leader not named either Kovalchuk or Clarkson.
Could newly acquired Jagr or Ryder lead the Devils in goals this season? Will Clowe stun the hockey world? Or is Patrik Elias going to retake the team lead for the first time since the 2003-04 season? Take your pick!
