Krystofer Barch 2013-14 Preview

I guess it’s time to go through the formalities.

His Past

His past looks a lot like his present and his future. He is/has been a healthy scratch for his entire career. He is a physical player and is known for his Cam Janssen-like toughness more than anything.

In his NHL career he has 12 points and 19 assists but has a whopping 713 Penalty Minutes in 326 games.

After the Devils failed in their Cup Run, they signed Krys Barch to a 2-year, 1-way, $1.5 million contract. Last season he had 0 points and 44 penalty minutes in 22 games.

What to Expect

Don’t expect Barch to even catch wind of the starting lineup for the Devils’ Season Opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Even if there are a lot of moving parts on the 4th line at RW, don’t expect to see Barch play in many games this season.

There is a possibility he gets moved to Albany but that also seems unlikely due to his 1-way contract. If he starts it will probably result in someone else getting the day off.

That’s about it. I know this one was quick but I had to cover Barch because I would’ve felt bad if I hadn’t and I also want to make sure I cover every Devil for this upcoming season.
Stay tuned very shortly for the next Player Preview, Alternate Captain Andy Greene.
