Hockey. Is. Back.
After covering the entire offseason, it is safe to say that I am excited for the NHL returning this year more than any year ever.
For the New Jersey Devils, it all starts tonight. What better way could it all begin? Devils. Rangers.
And now Tom Gulitti has just confirmed breaking news. Damien Brunner will join the Devils as an unsigned camp tryout. Personally, I think there is a good chance Brunner signs if he takes what Lou Lamoriello will give him.
Anyway, back to the game.
Tom Gulitti broke the lines earlier today:
- Harri Pesonen – Adam Henrique – Steve Bernier
- Rostislav Olesz – Andrei Loktionov – Mattias Tedenby
- Reid Boucher – Jacob Josefson – Mike Sislo
- Krys Barch – Darcy Zajac – Cam Janssen
- Anton Volchenkov – Mark Fayne
- Eric Gelinas – Peter Harrold
- Alex Urbom – Adam Larsson
Line to Watch
Reid Boucher – Jacob Josefson – Mike Sislo
I am interested to see how the two lines above them fare but I am especially interested in this line. With Boucher, we get our first good look at one of the Devils’ top prospects. With Josefson, he will be trying his hardest to make his case to start in the NHL. Sislo will be looking to show great strides in improvement but is still a little off from being called up.
Other Players to Watch
It will be interesting to see if Anton Volchenkov can show improvement this preseason. Even more intriguing is watching Fayne and Harrold stake their claim for a spot on the Opening Day lineup.
Cory Schneider will be making his first appearance as a Devil and will surely be a player to watch.
Pete DeBoer has mentioned that he has been impressed with Rostislav Olesz so far so watch for Olesz to try to further his case for a roster spot (especially if Brunner is coming to NJ).
Devils 3, Rangers 1
Enjoy the return of hockey everyone!
