As expected the Devils have agreed to terms with winger Damien Brunner today. The move was announced by Lou Lamoriello.
The Swiss born winger was in training camp on a tryout, and impressed enough to get his second NHL contract. So far in the preseason Brunner has two assists in two games played. He is coming off a year with the Detroit Red Wings were he put up 12 goals and 14 assists, in 44 games.
The move was expected as head coach Pete DeBoer has been on record in saying that he likes to pair forwards up in training camp and make lines that way. Throughout camp Brunner has mostly been paired with Patrik Elias, and has showed chemistry with the team’s best forward.
Brunner’s two assists came on Saturday night playing on a line with Elias against the New York Islanders in the new Barclays Center.
The terms have not been released yet, but I’m hearing 2 years, 2.5 cap hit.
Brunner will play in a preseason game tonight in Philadelphia, as announced by Lou Lamoriello this afternoon.
