Schneider’s Streak Ends In 2-1 Win Over Flyers

Philadelphia, P.A. -

Sorry for the delay, I made the trip down to Philly for the game.

Cory Schneider continued his strong start of the preseason making it to 18:29 into the third period before giving up a goal. Kimmo Timonen was the first to break the streak on a power play blast from the point that Schneider never saw. It might have been saved if the Devils defensemen cleared out the double screen.

It was the first goal that Schneider gave up in 158:29 minutes this preseason. He has stopped 70-of-71 shots faced over the eight periods this preseason, a .986 save percentage.

However, The Devils had the upper hand. The first goal came from Marek Zidlicky after he went down low and stuffed it behind Ray Emery 6:37 into the first period.

After a slow second period where the Devils only had three shots, Mike Sislo gave the Devils an insurance goal with a beautiful play. Jacob Josefson did a great job on the half boards keeping the puck in the zone before giving it to Rod Pelley who then sent it to Sislo. Sislo had to kick the puck to his backhand in order to beat Emery.

The Devils play the Flyers again on Thursday night at home for the final preseason game of the year.
