The Devils have trimmed their roster to 23 and no major shakeups occurred. Cam Janssen cleared waivers and was designated to Albany today. Patrik Elias was then put on IR. Before everyone has a heart attack, the move is retroactive to last Tuesday when he was originally injured. This makes him eligible to come off of IR on Wednesday, just in time for the Devils’ Season Opener at the CONSOL Energy Center against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
Mattias Tedenby was also eligible to be placed on a non-roster injury spot due to his amount of games played in the NHL. Tom Gulitti noted that he can stay there until he is healthy enough to play.
Whether they got lucky or there’s a consipiracy, the Devils made the roster deadline and are ready to make their final preparations before their opener.
With the offseason officially coming to a close tomorrow night, it is time to see what was your favorite and/or biggest offseason moment for the New Jersey Devils.
There were retirements, signings, and big time moments this offseason for the New Jersey Devils. Ilya Kovalchuk virtually abandoned the team to go back home to Russia and play in the KHL but that was after the Devils landed a gem in Cory Schneider at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The Devils made big signings like Jaromir Jagr, Damien Brunner, Michael Ryder and had a huge re-signing of Adam Henrique.
Which one did you think was the biggest?
