Final Roster Cuts to be Made Today, More Practice Notes, PP Poll

The league has pushed back the deadline for rosters to be set to 23 players to 5 PM ET. The Devils still have 26 players on their roster and the only players that are eligible to be sent down are Cam Janssen (assuming he isn’t claimed) and Adam Larsson. Lou Lamoriello has used a nifty loophole to make the deadline and then bring Larsson back up before the season starts in the past.

The Devils also were back to practicing today at the Prudential Center with only 4 days left until they open the season against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Consol Energy Center. Martin Brodeur has returned from Montreal to practice. He joined Cory Schneider out on the ice for today’s practice.

It is good to see that RW Jaromir Jagr and LW/C Patrik Elias have returned to practice today.

There seems to be a theme with the defensive pairs so far and the top three lines may be the 3 that start on Thursday night.

This is an interesting look at a possible PP unit. I like the possibility of Zajac working on the point and adding another forward into the mix. Tom Gulitti also pointed out that this is the first time that Jagr is working with the powerplay.

Any combination with Michael Ryder and Adam Henrique always tend to catch my eyes but when you add Damien Brunner to the mix, it adds a whole new level of intrigue.

Today’s poll will work with these hypothetical powerplay units.
