My Take on the Whole Goal Song Controversy

We have all heard it. We have all vented about it.

Not everyone’s opinion is the same, so I’m going to leave my impressions here. Jason Young’s article posted earlier today can be found here.

First, I’m going to post my reaction last night.

Since my Twitter is on private, I can’t embed them but I’ll still post it.

What happened to the hey song…..

Where is it

This is not ok

I wasn’t happy that they got rid of the “Hey Song.” I was extremely disappointed. I was even more disappointed that fans were booing. You’re supposed to be happy your team scored and I’d say at least 85% of the fanbase last night was booing and disappointed after their team scored.

If I was there, would I have booed? I’ll be honest, yeah probably. I am slowly moving past it though.

You can do whatever you want, I’m just giving my two cents.

I love doing the chant when I go to games. I have advertised it as one of the best parts because the fans have so much fun doing the chant and having fun with the song.

That being said, it’s just a song. Fans seem to be more disappointed at the new goal song than the fact their team is 0-1-1. There are bigger problems that the Devils have to fix than their goal song.

Do I want the Hey Song back? Yes. Do I think they are changing it back? No.

I am a big fan of tradition and I cannot stress enough how much I love the Hey Song. I can’t stress how much I loved the goal chants from the past.

The Devils have made their decision, though, and it may be time to move on.

I want it back, I really do. I hope they change their mind and change it back. I just don’t think it’s happening.

I would like a better song like maybe Seven Nation Army when they score. That’s a classic song the fans could get behind.
