The Vancouver Goalie Circus will be making one final stop tonight. Cory Schneider will be returning to where he last left the circus and play against his former team in the Rogers Arena. Schneider was caught in the middle of a goalie circus last season with Roberto Luongo for the starting goalie spot.
At this point, the Devils are bringing around a circus of their own.
The New Jersey Devils are coming off a simply crushing shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers in which they held a 3-0 lead going into the final period. The Devils collapsed in tremendous fashion to barely limp into OT at 4-4.
The Devils suffered another crushing loss and they are only 3 games into the season. Something has to give.
Right when I was ready to admit that the defensive had a great game, they just implode. To be fair, some of the pressure of the loss can be taken off of Marek Zidlicky this time. He didn’t have his usual horrendous game but it still wasn’t good. The defense just did not look good in the third period top to bottom. Everyone had problems from Adam Larrson to Marek Zidlicky. What will it take to give Mark Fayne a shot?
Tonight seems to be the night. Rostislav Olesz and Mark Fayne will be playing tonight. Guess what defenseman comes out.
Nope. Adam Larsson. I understand if it’s for rest purposes but if this is punishment for the past games, is this the wrong direction or what?
Ryan Carter comes out for Olesz. I thought Carter has been playing better than Stephen Gionta lately, but that’s just me.
Let’s hope Pete DeBoer is giving players rest. Maybe these subs will pan out tonight. Something needs to change that’s for sure.
Tonight’s game will be a fun one for sure. Fans get to sink their teeth into Schneider vs. Roberto Luongo one more time.
