The New Jersey Devils have now won 2 straight games over teams that are playing exceptionally well this season. On Saturday, they will try to make it 3 in a row against the Broad Street Bullies, the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Devils have been playing a great all-around game so far and they will look for that to continue after a dreadful start to the season.
The Devils have been playing well in 4 out of the last 5, including the shootout loss to Vancouver where they arguably outplayed the Canucks.
Jaromir Jagr has been the definition of hot for the past five games where the Devils have gone 3-1-1. In the last 5 games, Jagr has 1 goal, 6 assists, and 7 of his 10 points on the season. Due to his recent outburst of production he now leads the team in points. He is currently on a 5-game point streak.
In the last 5 games, he only struggled in the +/- category against the Columbus Blue Jackets. To be fair most of the team struggled as well. He had a -2 rating that game but has worked it back up to a +1 overall during the 5-game stretch.
He has kept the penalty minutes to a minimum with only 2 minutes in the last 5 games.
While he didn’t have a shot on goal during his 2-assist outing against the New York Rangers, he has amounted to 8 shots and went 1-for-3 against Tampa Bay.
Jagr has been incredibly effective on the powerplay lately during the Devils PPG streak that was just recently snapped against Tampa Bay. Including last game, he has had 4 powerplay assists in the last 5 games.
Everyone also knows about the game-winning goal controversy where everyone thought he broke the record. Nevertheless, he had the GWG against the Lightning in a hard fought game.
