The New Jersey Devils will be facing off against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. The Devils will be fresh off a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Maple Leafs are coming off of a 4-0 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. That game was 6 days ago in a rare stretch of off time.
The Devils just registered their second road win of the season and now stand at 2-6-2. With the win yesterday they distanced themselves from the Columbus Blue Jackets in both the division and conference standings and moved up a spot in both.
Eric Gelinas will be a game-time decision following his injury sustained last night after he was hit with a puck.
The Devils played well offensively and they had big offensive help from Adam Henrique, Jaromir Jagr, and miraculously Cam Janssen.
Cory Schneider will be starting the tail end of the back-to-back. Martin Brodeur notched his 122nd career shutout extending his NHL record.
Patrik Elias has reportedly skated on his own in NJ but remains on IR for the near future. Jon Merrill has been working out off-ice and is still healing from the lacerations on his face. Also, it is the “status quo” for Bryce Salvador and Ryane Clowe.
The Devils will also be facing David Clarkson for the first time since he joined the Maple Leafs tonight. Clarkson won’t be returning to the Prudential Center for the last game of the season series in March.
