The moment everyone has been waiting for. Well, almost everyone.

Reid Boucher is in the NHL.

Is Reid Boucher being rushed into the NHL. Now we begin to see that answer unfold.

Reid is 20 and has 3 more years of waiver exemption while Joe Whitney has only one year of exemption and is playing at the same level (if not better) than Boucher has been playing.

Previously, I said that the Devils had an open roster spot and after re-counting, that is not true. The Devils had to place Ryan Carter on injured reserve to call him up. I have counted 14 at forward (including the latest moves) and 7 at defense so I assume the Devils had a full roster.

Adam Henrique will also be available tonight and is on the line with Damien Brunner and Michael Ryder.

Boucher is practicing on the second line with Patrik Elias and Steve Bernier.

It will be interesting to see how Mr. Boucher plays tonight. I may be wrong and he could tear things up a la Henrique in 2011-12. This move could also severly damage his development.

The Devils need scoring and Reid will bring that to the table. At least most fans are hoping he will.

With Ryane Clowe skating, maybe there is an off chance he comes back soon and that would require a roster spot to be opened. If Boucher lights it up, then Mattias Tedenby or Cam Janssen or Tim Sestito could be returned to Albany instead of Reid.

Lou Lamoriello spoke very highly of Boucher today and hopefully the media is allowed to talk to him after practice.

Or maybe they will have a bodyguard in front of him too.
