Lady Luck Was On The Other Devils In 5-4 Loss To Columbus

Columbus, OH - The New Jersey Devils had lady luck against them in this game, the Columbus Blue Jackets had four goals that there is not much anyone could do about.

Nick Foligno, son of Devils assistant coach Mike Foligno, had a puck go off of his skate and into the net with just over a minute left in the game.

There was one problem on the play, Foligno started the play off by standing behind Martin Broduer and falling over him. There should have been a penalty called, resulting in the play being blown dead and the goal not being scored.

Just bad luck and no calls have been the Devils achilles heel this season. Two Columbus goals went off of Jackets players skates, one off of a lucky rebound, and another that squeaked out from under Broduer’s back. Not much the Devils or Brodeur could have done.

On the bright side, Boucher had an assist on the first goal, dropping a pass to Zajac that he put in the net.

Damien Brunner scored for the first time in 17 games. Not only did he score once, but twice! He looked a lot more comfortable on the ice tonight with Elias and Bernier as his line mates.

Michael Ryder stays red hot with his fourth goal in five games.

The Devils move on to play at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh against the Penguins. The Devils are 1-1 against the Pens this season with the most recent game being a 4-1 win at home.
