Peter Harrold’s “lower-body injury” turned out to be a non-displaced fracture in his foot. Lou Lamoriello has said that he will be in a cast for about a week and then they will reevaluate him and move forward from there. The Devils have not made any moves so it seems that Harrold will stay off of injured reserve for now. Harrold injured his foot when he crashed into the net at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
The Devils only have 6 defensemen for at least a week now. Well, not necessarily.
Lou Lamoriello Doctors have cleared Bryce Salvador to practice and is certainly aiming to play next week. It is the first time that Bryce Salvador has practiced with the team since the team played Columbus on October 22nd. He was out with a foot stress fracture.
One door closes and another opens.
Ryane Clowe has also been cleared by doctors but did not practice yesterday. Anton Volchenkov rested yesterday after he had “full body soreness” following his injury against Columbus on Tuesday night. Look for both guys to practice today in a practice comprising a “small group of players” (Devils PR).
Adam Larsson and Ryan Carter aren’t skating yet but Stephen Gionta has been. Lou has mentioned that Gionta “is not ready” to practice yet.
Tim Sestito or Cam Janssen start to cool down his rehab is complete, Gionta will likely be among the first of the injured forwards to return.
It seems coincidental that players tend to get injured and return at the perfect time. At defense, this is especially true due to the success of Eric Gelinas and the looming questions that surround this defensive unit once Salvador and Larsson are healthy again.
The Devils will have a small group of skaters at the AmeriHealth Pavilion at 1:30 PM and Pete DeBoer will be available at that time as well.
