Last night at the Times Union Center, the Albany Devils won their 6th straight game outlasting the Hartford Wolf Pack. The 5-2 contest saw Scott Wedgewood give Keith Kinkaid the night off.
Wedgewood stopped 26 of 28 in the winning effort that saw 5 Albany goals and 9 Albany assists.
What would be an Albany Devils game without Joe Whitney contributing? Whitney recorded his 18th assist tonight and now sits at 28 points in 26 games.
Mattias Tedenby kicked off the scoring with his 3rd goal in Albany. Seth Helgeson (5) and Mike Sislo (9) assisted on the goal. Artem Demkov continues his surge, scoring his 3rd goal and eventually tallying his 5th point in 5 games with Albany this season. That goal was assisted by the aforementioned Whitney and Stefan Matteau (7). Matteau just recently left the team to go to the U.S. Junior Camp that he was invited to.
Nearly a minute later, the Devils brought the lead to 3-0 in the first period on David Wohlberg’s second goal of the season. He was assisted by Harri Pesonen (8) and Riley Boychuk (1).
Hartford would tally a goal in the second period and another one early in the third to bring the lead to 3-2.
Brandon Burlon (2) would extend the lead to 4-2. He was helped out by Pesonen (9). Raman Hrabarenka (3) would seal the deal with about 5 minutes remaining on a goal helped by Burlon (4) and Demkov (2).
Albany was 1-for-8 on the powerplay, extending their streak to 11 consecutive games with at least one PP goal. Hrabarenka’s goal was the PP goal. The Devils had a 5-on-3 chance when they scored and it was nice to see more than one streak continue.
Brandon Burlon had 2 points, a +3 rating, and also 3 shots in the winning effort. Corbin McPherson had a +2 rating to bump up his season total to +3. Rod Pelley had 2 shots to bring his total up to 37 in 26 games. Mike Hoeffel had 2 shots to bring his total up to 38 in 22 games.
The Devils still remain in second in the Northeast Division, 3 points behind the Springfield Falcons. The Devils are well within a playoff spot however as they sit in 4th in the Eastern Conference, 3 points ahead of the St. John’s IceCaps. Remember, in the AHL, the playoff system still remains the same as the old system.
After playing back-to-back games, the Devils do not play again until December 21.

2. B. Burlon – 1 goal, 1 assist, +3
