Albany Devils Face Crucial Week Starting Tuesday

The Albany Devils have run into a rough patch lately and have lost 3 straight games with one shootout loss and one overtime loss included in the 3.

This week, they will play 4 games in 6 days against 3 teams that are pretty much the cream of the crop in the Eastern Conference.

They will start off playing the Springfield Falcons in a Tuesday-Friday home-and-home. The Springfield Falcons are currently in first in the Northeast Division, ahead of the Devils by 9 points. This would be a great series to sweep and close the gap to 5 with plenty of games  remaining this season.

The Devils will then play Saturday and Sunday to complete their back-to-back-to-back weekend.

They will first take on the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday. The Devils will face off against the Atlantic Division leader who is currently tied for the Eastern Conference lead with Springfield.

They will then play the Hershey Bears in Atlantic City on Sunday. The Bears sit in 4th in the East Division but don’t let that fool you. The East Division, much like the Metropolitan, is very jam packed and Hershey is 15-12-3-3 this season. While they would not make the playoffs if the season ended today, they are only two points out of a playoff spot and are only 7 points behind the Devils which, in the long run, is not a lot.

The Devils are currently in 6th in the Eastern Conference (in the AHL the playoff system never changed) and are only 5 points ahead of the 8th-place Adirondack Phantoms. The 9th-place St. John’s IceCaps are only a point behind Adirondack with Hershey only a point behind St. John’s.
