New Jersey Devils 4, Montreal Canadiens 1 (MTL wins 2-1)

The Devils avoided the season sweep against the Canadiens last night with an important 4-1 victory in Montreal.

Martin Brodeur (NJD G) recorded his 13th win of the season in a game that could be his last in his hometown of Montreal. His record now stands at 13-9-4.

Jaromir Jagr (NJD RW) passed Mark Messier on the all-time goal list with his 14th goal of the season.

Mark Fayne (NJD D) earned 3rd-star with a +1 rating and 27 shifts which included around 20 minutes of ice time for the game.

The Devils win basically moved them from a 3-way tie at 4th to a 3-way tie at 3rd place in the wild card. They are tied with the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators. Montreal stalls out in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division and now fall to 3 points behind the 2nd-place Tampa Bay Lightning.
