This should be the biggest movement in hockey. Cory Schneider (tonight’s third star) outplayed Semyon Varlamov (tonight’s 1st star) statistically and arguably overall with his 37 save effort. Varlamov recorded 33 saves.
The Devils found the equalizer in the third, as they almost always tend to do, as Reid Boucher
hopefully works to break out of his recent slump. Boucher now has 6 points in 21 games.
The game would be scoreless in overtime and would head to the dreaded shootout.
Patrik Elias returned from injury tonight. He had a -1 rating, was 5-for-12 on faceoffs and committed a Tripping penalty in the 1st period.
The Devils piled on the shots again tonight as putting shots on net isn’t the problem anymore. The problem is what has eluded them
when Cory Schneider is in net all season: goals.
They are always having trouble finding the back of the net unless it is in the third period when they are trailing.
There is one more game between the two teams this season and it will take place on February 3rd in the Prudential Center.
The Devils met up with the Ottawa Senators again who most recently have also lost in overtime. Both teams are tied for third in the wild card with 51 points. The Washington Capitals sit in 2nd at 52 points with the Toronto Maple Leafs sitting in first with 53 points.
Colorado is sitting comfortably in 3rd in the Central Division.
