Damien Brunner and Peter Harrold Return To Practice

Damien Brunner and Peter Harrold returned to practice today after being on the shelf since December.

Brunner was just about to break out of his slump when he went down with a knee injury about 4 weeks ago. Harrold has been out for quite some time since crashing into the net against the New York Rangers in early December.

Brunner currently stands at 8 goals and 5 assists through 32 games this season. Harrold has 0 goals and 2 assists through 21 games and has a -5 rating so far.

Brunner confirmed that he did indeed sprain his MCL and is currently running on a consistent timetable with what Lou Lamoriello originally said.

In fact, he is actually being heavily considered for tomorrow’s game against the St. Louis Blues. Brunner practiced with Dainius Zubrus and Patrik Elias on the second line.

Harrold practiced with Anton Volchenkov on the “4th” defensive pairing. The Devils will have 8 defensemen on the roster once Harrold is activated and it looks like Jon Merrill will be the man to go.

Cam Janssen was placed on waivers to prepare for at least Brunner to return tomorrow. If he clears at noon tomorrow afternoon, he can be placed in Albany.

Adam Larsson could also be close to returning to the lineup after registering 4 assists in 6 games with the AHL club. Even further moves could be coming.

Pete DeBoer also confirmed that Cory Schneider will be playing tomorrow night. Martin Brodeur still seems to be the frontrunner for Sunday’s game at Yankee Stadium. That is pure speculation, though.
