Reid Boucher has been officially assigned to AHL Albany following the Devils’ 7-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Boucher played in 23 games in the NHL this season and it is unknown if he will see additional time in New Jersey this season.

This move could very well be to open up a roster spot for Peter Harrold, who is set to return very soon. The move could also be to put him in the AHL before the Olympics start in just over two weeks.

Regardless, Reid will return to the Albany club where he had 10 goals and 8 assists (18 points) in 21 games (Hockey DB)

Per Tom Gulitti, Lou Lamoriello reported that there are no updates to Adam Henrique‘s condition after leaving yesterday’s 7-1 win over the Blues early.

Lamoriello is quoted saying:

“We’ve got the day off and we’ll know tomorrow morning.”

While the Devils have the day off, there are a couple of games that will affect the Devils in the standings.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes will make up their game that was postponed last night. The Hurricanes are 4 points behind the Devils in the wild card standings. The Flyers sit in 3rd in the Metropolitan Division and are only 3 points ahead of the Devils.

No matter what, the Devils will benefit from the loser tonight. For the more immediate impact, it would be better for the Canes to win and keep the gap for 3rd place at 3 points.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings will renew their rivalry tonight. The Red Wings are only a point behind the Devils in the wild card race and the clear team to root for is the Chicago Blackhawks.
