Tonight the New Jersey Devils will participate in their last game before the Olympic break against the Washington Capitals. New Jersey won the first game in Washington on December 21st in a 5-4 game that was decided in overtime. They played just over a month later on January 24th at the Prudential Center right before the Stadium Series game and won 2-1.

Tonight will be the last time the two teams meet at the Verizon Center this season.The Devils are currently 24-21-13 and are looking for another win tonight in Washington DC.

Last night, the Devils won in overtime versus the Edmonton Oilers after a two game losing streak. Jon Merrill saw his first goal in the NHL last night.

The Washington Capitals, who also won their last game, are 26-23-9 and are tied with the Devils in both the divisional standings and wild card standings. They have only won once in the last eight meetings with the Devils.

Cory Schneider is in the net tonight for the sixth straight game after playing the past five games for the Devils. He earned his 11th win of the season (11-10-9) and continues to play very well.

This afternoon there was no morning skate for the Devils due to a Georgetown basketball game at the Verizon Center.
