Once the New Jersey Devils acquired Cory Schneider in the last NHL Entry Draft, it became clear that there wasn’t any room for class act and fan-favorite Johan “Moose” Hedberg on the roster.
Unfortunately, the Devils had to buy out his contract but Hedberg has been staying close to the team and is a “special assignment coach for the organization” according to Albany’s Official Website.
They also announced that the Devils have indeed signed him to a professional tryout with Keith Kinkaid out with an injury and heir to his throne Maxime Clermont in the ECHL also injured.
There isn’t any confirmation as to whether or not Johan Hedberg will start but Scott Wedgewood will most likely start as he has been the backup to Kinkaid all season.
Wedgewood has a 7-10-2 record this season.
The Albany Devils have also announced that Darcy Zajac has resumed skating after missing 43 games with an injury. Zajac has 1 assist in 4 games this season and 51 points in 179 games in his career with Albany.
The Devils will play tomorrow in Atlantic City against the Hershey Bears. The Devils are looking to rebound in a big way after losing 7 of their last 9 games.
