The Albany Devils and Hershey Bears will meet in Atlantic City in an Eastern Conference clash.
The Devils are reeling after losing 7 of their last 9 games and have plummeted in the standings. The Bears are slightly above the Devils in the standings.
The Devils have not announced if they will have Scott Wedgewood or Johan Hedberg in net for tomorrow night’s game. Hedberg was recently signed to a professional tryout and practiced with the team today.
While nothing is official, Hedberg will most likely get a start this weekend as the Devils play a back-to-back-to-back set.
Joe Whitney is coming off of registering 2 assists in the 2014 AHL All-Star Game as the AHL All-Stars defeated Farjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League. The final score was 7-2.
Whitney has 38 points (17 G, 21 A) in 47 games with a -1 rating. He has been a big contributor to the Albany’s success this season and was an easy choice for the All-Star Game.
The Devils currently sit in 9th in the Eastern Conference after going 3-5-0-2 in their last 10 games. They are only 1 point behind a tie for 7th that involves the Hershey Bears so they can jump them in the standings with the huge win.
The Albany Devils are also in 2nd in the Northeast Division by 11 points and are behind the 1st-place Springfield Falcons by 10 points.
In the American Hockey League, the playoff format is the same as the NHL’s old system. The top 8 teams in the conference advance with the division winners getting a top-3 spot.
