USA Women’s Team Advances To Final With 6-1 Win Over Sweden


Four years ago the USA Women’s team came played the semi-final game against Sweden, dominating them 9-1 to go to the gold medal game. Both teams found themselves in the same situation this morning.

Team USA has been dominant this olympics except for a minor hiccup against Canada in a game that could have gone both ways. Continuing their success, the Americans dominated the Swedes to a 6-1 win and outshooting them 70-9.

The Americans got all six goals from different players. Megan Bozek and Brianna Decker both had three points in the game.

American goaltender, Jessie Vetter, had a quiet day at work between the pipes, only facing nine shots and stopping eight of them. On the other hand, Swedish goalie Kim Martin-Hasson stopped 64-of-70 shots she faced.

The United States will face rival Canada on Feb 20th at noon for the battle for the gold medal. Team USA defeated the Canadians four straight times before losing to them last Wednesday in a controversial 3-2 game.

It is believed that the Americans will come out on top on Thursday and bring home Sochi gold. Go USA!
