On Tuesday, March 4th, Martin Brodeur will be starting in net against the Detroit Red Wings in a pivotal Eastern Conference matchup.
Not to subscribe to the cliche article of “Brodeur’s last game” or anything, but sometimes you have to look at the grim reality.
It could be Brodeur’s last game as a New Jersey Devil.
The 2014 NHL Trade Deadline is at 3 PM EST on Wednesday, March 5th. There are a plethora of rumors surrounding Martin Brodeur right now with the most likely suitor being the Minnesota Wild.
Can it be possible that he could wear the green and red and not the red and black?
No one but Lou Lamoriello (and I doubt even he) knows for sure. Simply put, we could see the end of an era at the Prudential Center on Tuesday night. The crowd will be into it and cheering the whole way because they know that this could be it. Once the game ends, especially if they win, it will be interesting to see what happens.
It is certainly must-watch TV.
It may not be on the same level as Ryan Miller‘s theatrics in Buffalo because, let’s be honest, we all saw that coming. This will be a game of uncertainty and could even be a tryout for Marty.
There are a lot of rumors, most of them false. The one about Brodeur’s locker being cleaned out? That was quelled when Brodeur took the ice for today’s morning skate.
Personally, I do not think Lou Lamoriello will agree with what the Minnesota Wild will give him and it won’t be much for the future Hall of Fame goaltender. Brodeur probably won’t get shopped before the deadline and any controversy will be dead.
At least until free agency rolls around. Then we have a whole new problem.
