The New Jersey Devils (67 points) will complete their season series with the Detroit Red Wings (69 points) with the only game played in the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

The Devils beat the Red Wings on Tuesday night due to some late game heroics. Stephen Gionta got the game-winning goal, his first of the season, in what was a 3-goal 3rd period for the home team at the Prudential Center.

The Devils can jump into a tie for the last playoff spot (the second wild card spot) with the Red Wings as long as they win in regulation. The other two teams ahead of them, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals, have the night off.

The Devils can also push away some of the competition below them with the win. The New York Rangers are facing the Carolina Hurricanes tonight in a game that sees a positive result no matter who is the victor and the Ottawa Senators have the night off.

If the Devils get the win tonight, they could push themselves 4 points ahead of Ottawa and potentially 6 ahead of the Hurricanes. Also, if they win and the Rangers lose, they could be just one point out of 3rd in the Metropolitan Division.

Cory Schneider will be getting the start tonight after Martin Brodeur locked down the win on Tuesday. Brodeur will be starting tomorrow night against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Schneider played in the first meeting between the two teams on December 6th. He gave up 3 goals on 21 shots on a night where the Devils recorded 11 total shots.

Adam Henrique will look to continue his recent success after scoring another goal on Tuesday night. He is now tied for the team lead at 19. He is tied with Jaromir Jagr who also holds the team lead in points (53) and assists (34) along with just about every other stat.

Tuomo Ruutu will be getting his first start with the Devils tonight after being traded on Deadline Day by the Carolina Hurricanes. He is obviously one of the main players to watch tonight.
