The New Jersey Devils (29-26-13) and Boston Bruins (46-17-5) will meet tonight at the Prudential Center for the first time this season on “Retro Night.”
The Devils managed to steal a win in their last meeting on October 26th at the TD Garden in Boston.
Tonight marks the beginning of a tough homestand where the Devils will face 5 playoff teams in their 5-game homestand.
Winning a lot of these games could give the team the confidence to make a playoff run but losses could effectively end the season.
Martin Brodeur (17-12-4) will be tonight’s starter. Brodeur is coming off of his first loss (4-1) since the Olympic break. Brodeur gave up 3 goals in a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.
Not much can be said on which goalie deserves to start due to the extremely lackluster performance by the defense of the Devils but it is starting to resemble what was apparent in the beginning of the season.
Maybe the wins aren’t warranted, but Martin Brodeur is getting wins while Cory Schneider (0-3) is not coming out of the break. Whether it’s goal support or lackluster defense or lackluster scoring, Pete DeBoer is known for just leaving alone what is getting wins.
Well, most of the time.
Unbelievable. Apparently, Josefson thinks the same thing.
The New Jersey Devils stand 5 points out of a playoff spot so it is certainly an uphill climb now. Personally, I always cling to the hope of the postseason but it is not looking good.
