The New Jersey Devils and Minnesota Wild will meet for the last time this season as Minnesota looks for the 2-game season sweep. Minnesota won Game 1 on November 3rd in a 4-0 decision. The game took place at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Just like that November night, Cory Schneider will get the start.
Make sure you tune in on time tonight because I am 99% sure that the MSG+ crew will have some sort of video homage to Mr. Parise when the main coverage kicks off at 7 PM.
The opening sequence they gave to Martin Brodeur it what could have been his last game with the team was absolutely chilling.
Whether or not they will show fan reaction when they announce the lineups remains to be seen.
While the Devils Army got a good glimpse of what it was like to be directly against Parise for the first time in November, tonight it will be different.
After all, he is returning to the location where he took a huge team photo at center ice and elected not to lift the trophy they earned until the Stanley Cup Finals were over.
As for this year’s playoff hopes, they are certainly dwindling. They still remain only 5 points out and their “magic number” remains fairly high but it’s time to face reality.
If the New Jersey Devils showed the heart to win the majority of their next games, then I’d be on board with that. This team just doesn’t look like they want to be in the playoffs. If they did, games would be gritty, games would be competitive, and games would be heated.
They just haven’t the past three games.
