The New Jersey Devils suffered a potentially fatal blow last night, losing to the Calgary Flames 1-0. The Devils are not mathematically eliminated from the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but need nothing short of a miracle to qualify.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will play tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes in their final home game of the season. The Devils need to win out and have Columbus go 1-3 in their final games. It is a tall task, and one that probably will not happen.
The game can be found on FS-A and FS-O and also NHL GameCenter.
Columbus will also play tomorrow and can all but eliminate the Devils. Columbus will travel to Dallas to take on the Stars with the Stars also finding themselves in the thick of a playoff race.
The Detroit Red Wings will take on the Buffalo Sabres tonight and the Philadelphia Flyers will take on the Florida Panthers. Both could effectively crush the Devils’ chances as well if any significant collapses are about to happen.
Either way, things do not look great for Jersey’s Team. The Playoffs are only about a week away and the Devils are a long way out of the hunt right now.
