It is official, the New Jersey Devils have failed to make the playoffs for the second straight year and third time in four years.

The Detroit Red Wings earned a point in their shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, clinching one wild card spot with 91-points.

The Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Dallas Stars tonight for their third straight win, clinching playoff birth with 91-points. This will only be the second time the Jackets have made the playoffs in their history. They were swept in the 2009 playoffs and are still searching for their first playoff win ever.

The Devils can now set their tee times. It has been a very disappointing and frustrating season. There were many ups and downs this year and it has finally come to an end. The Devils can now look forward to the offseason and make changes necessary to contend for the cup once again.
