The New Jersey Devils will take their final road trip of the season. As the team slowly trudges towards the final horn on Sunday afternoon, certain issues now take the forefront.
Whether it’s UFA’s (Jagr), players leaving (Brodeur), or coaches’ jobs in question (DeBoer).
Cory Schneider will get his 5th straight start for the Devils tonight. It is interesting to see which game Martin Brodeur will play in the coming days. With 2 more home games left, either one could be his last home game with the Devils.
With the team now officially eliminated from the playoffs for the 3rd time in 4 seasons, fans are starting to see mediocrity that they aren’t accustomed to with the Devils. As one of NHL’s elite teams since the Devils first made the playoffs in the 1980s, this kind of mediocrity is new to most Cup Generation fans.
The Devils also have one last shot to record a 3-game winning streak. In what will mainly be a string of formalities for the last three games, players may be playing for a spot on the team and some players could be playing their last game in the black and red.
The game can be found on MSG+ and WCBS AM 880.
