The New Jersey Devils posted a couple of tidbits updating the Devils roster in the past couple of days.
The Devils announced that Mark Fayne had a successful operation tending to his groin injury. Lou Lamoriello mentioned that Fayne will be rehabbing for 8-10 weeks.
Mark Fayne finished the season playing in 72 games and only recorded 4 goals and 7 assists with a -5 rating. Fayne’s defensive play was not the worst on the team and certainly contributed, especially towards the tail end of the season.
Fayne just completed a 2-year, $2.6 million deal and is an Unrestricted Free Agent on July 1st.
The Devils also announced that they have signed Graham Black to an Entry-Level Contract.
The 3-year, 2-way deal will see Black end the 2016-17 Season as a Restricted Free Agent. According to Cap Geek, the deal’s value is at $1.95 million and Black is receiving a $75,000 signing bonus each season. His AHL salary stands at $65,000 for all 3 seasons. His NHL salary, should it come into effect, will start at $625,000 and increase $25,000 each season (i.e. $650,000 for year 2, etc.
His cap hit is $650,000 for each season.
Black spent most of the season in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos. In 69 regular season games, he recorded 34 goals and 63 assists (97 points). He would play 6 playoff games and had 2 goals and 2 assists. He has also recorded 2 games with the Albany Devils this season but has not registered a point yet.
