The Albany Devils answered back in Game 2 to tie up the 1st Round of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs at 1 win apiece.
14 penalties were given out in Game 2 and Albany would end up going 3-for-9 in their 4-2 win.
The game opened up with St. John’s taking the 1-0 lead on Brenden Kichton’s first goal of the playoffs. 59 seconds later, Reid Boucher registered his 1st goal of the playoffs to tie the game up at 1. His goal would be the last even strength goal for both teams.
Stefan Matteau would give the Devils the 2-1 lead but St. John’s would tie it right back with Kitchton’s second goal of the game.
8:08 into the second period, the Devils took the lead on Mattias Tedenby‘s first goal of the postseason for their 2nd PPG of the game. In the 3rd, Scott Timmins registered the Devils’ third PPG of the game and gave Albany the permanent 2-goal lead.
The Devils outshot the IceCaps 34-32 and Keith Kinkaid stopped 30 shots for the second straight game. Kelly Zajac recorded 2 assists and Tedenby had a goal and an assist.
