The Albany Devils were put on the brink of defeat in this first round series of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Albany had quite a few chances at goal and just couldn’t find the back of the net. Both Keith Kinkaid and Michael Hutchinson had phenomenal games to keep Game 3 a very low-scoring one.
“[Keith] was outstanding,” Kowalsky said. “He made big save after big save. A lot of it was fighting through traffic; he had good rebound control. He did everything he could to give us a chance to win that game.”
“It’s easier to get into the game with a few shots right away,” Kinkaid said. “I felt pretty good the whole game. You just control yourself and just try to give the boys a chance to win.”
Kinkaid stopped 34 out of 35 shots but Kael Mouillierat’s goal was the one that mattered. Hutchinson stopped 24 shots in the winning effort.
The Devils had a few odd-man rushes and another couple of chances that could have easily gotten past Hutchinson but didn’t have the puck luck last night.
