The Albany Devils finished up their 2013-14 AHL campaign with a 4-game series loss to the St. John’s IceCaps in the first round of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Devils won Game 2, but lost the rest in the best-of-5 series.
Tom Gulitti reported that Eric Gelinas sprained his ankle in the last game of the season but after a few tests, it will not require surgery.
“He sprained his ankle,” Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said today. “We’re going to take a look at him here today, but it’s nothing structural. MRIs have been taken and it’s just a sprain.”
Albany made the playoffs for just the second time since the 1999-00 season.
“I thought they had an outstanding year,” Lamoriello said. “I thought the progress of the players and the players that we had here and then went there (was good), so in my opinion they had an outstanding year.”
