The New Jersey Devils announced moments ago that D Marek Zidlicky has been re-signed to a new contract.
This is just the first in many roster decisions that GM Lou Lamoriello will need to make in the coming 75-90 days.
Marek Zidlicky was one of the bright spots on the Devils defensive unit this past season and recorded 42 points, most on the team for defenders. He appeared in all games but one (81) and had 10 goals with 32 assists.
Terms are said to be:

Now, the Devils only have two guys left on the main defensive unit that are not under contract for next season. Adam Larsson is a Restricted Free Agent while Mark Fayne is an Unrestricted Free Agent in July.
Zidlicky had a good season in the NHL after most left him for dead and had a very good campaign with the Czech Republic in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Zidlicky is entering his 4th season with NJ and has proven to be effective on the first powerplay group and serve as one of the “quarterbacks” of the special teams. This does not officially eliminate the option of bringing back UFA Mark Fayne as they could easily designate Adam Larsson to Albany if they wanted.
Hopefully, the plan is to buyout Bryce Salvador and open a spot on defense. Eric Gelinas is also a Restricted Free Agent but there won’t be any problems signing him.
There is certainly more to come in the defensive outlook for the 2014-15 season.
