New Jersey Devils Re-Sign Mike Sislo to 2-Way Deal

Earlier this morning, Renaud Lavoie, hockey reporter for TVA Sports and also reports for the Journal of Montreal, broke the news on Mike Sislo:

Sislo just completed a 1-year, 2-way, $550,000 deal that saw him have an AHL salary of $75,000. That contract was following an average year with the Albany Devils in 2012-13 where he played 61 games and had 13 goals and 13 assists.

This past season, Sislo had time with both Albany and New Jersey as he played 14 games for the NHL squad but did not have a point. He had a very good season in Albany, playing 59 games and tallying 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points. He also had 2 assists in 4 playoff games this past season with Albany.

Cap Geek has not officially updated Sislo’s salary but some quick math points to his salary being about $562,000 a year. Securing Sislo for 2 years was a smart move considering he showed some promise in Albany and was one of the top guys in the production department.

Sislo never made an immediate impact with the NHL team in his small sample size, but last season showed that he is going in the right direction when it comes to his development.

The only Unrestricted Free Agent forwards that are left are the three CBGB guys, Mike Hoeffel, Cam Janssen, and Rod Pelley.
