All around the internet, NHL Draft 2014 Mock Drafts are being pumped out at a lightning pace. Here is a collection of what each site is guessing that the New Jersey Devils will pick.
NHL.com: Jakub Vrana – C, 5′ 11″, 172 lbs – Linkoping Jr. (SWE-JR).
In Lou We Trust: Brayden Point – Moose Jaw Warriors, WHL – 36 goals, 55 assists in 72 games. 1 goal, 3 assists in 5 games of the Hlinka Memorial Tournament with the Canada U-18 team and 2 assists in 4 games in the WJC U-18 Tournament.
Too Many Men on the Site: Russian forward Ivan Barbashev.
Bleacher Report: Josh Ho-Sang, C/RW, Windsor Spitfires – OHL.
Defending Big D: Thatcher Demko, NCAA
The Hockey Writers: F Alex Tuch, United States National Development Team (USHL)
ESPN: Anthony DeAngelo, Sarnia Sting, OHL.
There doesn’t seem to be much of a consensus of who the Devils will pick and it will largely come down to who is still available at that point. I’m not a prospect expert but DeAngelo is someone I have done a piece on this past season, so he is really the only one that I know well.
There are also some mocks that have the Devils taking Claude Lemieux’s son Brendan, so that is another person to watch in the first round. All of the links on the names of the website will take you to their mock draft that contains their pick for New Jersey if you would like to see more analysis.
The NHL Draft 2014 will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia starting at 7 PM EST tonight on NBCSN. Tonight’s picks will only be 1 through 30 with the rest of the rounds unfolding tomorrow morning.
