New Jersey Devils Links: August 31st, 2014

It is the last New Jersey Devils links before we head into September.

We start with the official New Jersey Devils website as they posted another entry in their Great Games 2013-14 series. This one takes us back to December 21, 2013 when the Devils faced the Washington Capitals in D.C.

CJ Turturo of In Lou We Trust tries to break down whether or not Martin Brodeur is the best goaltender of all time using some nifty statistics. See the results inside.

Andreas Matsoukas of Too Many Men on the Site took a look at the New Jersey Devils for this upcoming season and gave their predictions on how they will fare. There are a lot of variables to this upcoming season for the Devils and it certainly shows when you break it all down.

Is it realistic that the Devils should be merged with a team instead of an expansion? Even more importantly, should that team really be the Islanders? Well, Michael Collins of the main Fansided website takes a look at a few teams that should be contracted or merged. It’s an interesting article with all of this talk about expansion and makes you wonder if the NHL could just as easily contract or merge.

Here on Pucks and Pitchforks, we have had a wealth of content since the last Devils Links on the 26th. First, the 2013-14 Season Recap has hit the Top Performers of November. See who cracked the list. Then, see as we discuss the idea of whether or not the Devils actually pull the trigger on a trade this summer.

Hockey’s Future named the Top 20 prospects for the Devils this upcoming fall, while Frank Maduri looks at a few story lines that the Devils will be facing as the season is fast approaching. Anthony Smith takes a look at who is ready to break out this season for the Devils, while we also took a look at what Rod Pelley’s role can really consist of. Finally, Jim Finelli takes a look at who the Devils should give the captaincy to instead of Bryce Salvador.

Stay tuned to Pucks and Pitchforks as we continue to bring more New Jersey Devils news.
